San Guglielmo is a family business and can not be otherwise; it is their land, their vineyard. It's their heritage. All phases of the wine's production from the vineyard to the cellar and until bottling are given maximum attention and devotion. Sustainable production is their constant pursuit. Their inaugural vintage saw them produce a total of 11,000 bottles between their Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (2016) and Rosso di Montalcino DOC (2019). The vintages were, obviously, different, and yet both turned out the same, fantastic.Â
Philosophy
The story begins with Guglielmo, the grandfather - one of the founding members of the consortium of Brunello, and today is realized by his son's daughter, Ilaria, and her husband, Mike. Their historical vineyard is located 400m above sea level; here there is galestri and palombini. Galestri is a rocky soil made up of schist and clay. Palombini is a limestone soil.  With the vineyard being at a higher elevation, it has a spectacular view of the city of Siena. A sea breeze that rises from the west - from the Maremma - and mixes with the sylvan scent of the nearby woods to create an enchanting aroma.Â
