Venezia Giulia, in the renowned D.O.C. Friuli
Isonzo. Two young Friulian winemakers Moreno Ferlat and
Federica Tabacchi recently took over the winery and are working hard to take it to new heights. Ferlat has 18 acres of organic vineyards where they grow native varietals such as Pinot Grigio, Fruilano and not so native like Cabernet Franc. The philosophy of the winery is to product high quality wine with a big personality, but where the terrior and grape varietal are recognizable. To achieve this they use advances wine making techniques but with absolute respect for nature and the humble traditions of growing grapes and making your family wine.

Philosophy
In the vineyard Ferlat's philosophy is very simple. They look for the minimum environmental impact in all their
cultivation of plants and all their actions in the vineyards. All of Ferlat's vineyards
use cover crops most of which are herbs that develop
spontaneously. As Ferlat is certified organic they do not use herbicides but they do believe is tilling mulch and other organic compounds into the soil when they mow to sustain and improve the biodiversity of the soil.
Moreno and Federica call chemicals "bandits" and only use copper and sulfur for in the vineyard. Their goal is to produce the highest quality wines that expresses the natural grape.
