Ezio Cerruti
Ezio Cerruti grew up surrounded by Moscato vines. He has always lived in Castiglione Tinella. He first started making wine in a co-op. After benefiting from the wisdom of the community, he bought a thousand year old estate so that he could make wine his own way, with the vision of making to making a higher expression of Castiglione Tinella Moscato than what was expected. Doing things “the right way” goes beyond ecological principles for Ezio. His production is intentionally small, because he wants to make sure every barrel is perfect, and every glass is as good as it can be.
Philosophy
Cerruti comes from estate vineyards on 400 meter steep slopes with Eastern or Southeastern exposure. The hillside estate is surrounded by a valley and views of the next ridge over. The village of Castiglione Tinella is in the Cuneo provence right on the border to Asti, just east of Barbaresco. Being surrounded by producers of Asti Spumante, Ezio’s herbicide free vineyards lie in stark contrast to his neighbors. To fight mildew only copper or sulphur are used in the the vineyards. Farming is done organically.
