The producers we represent make wine from grapes farmed either organically or biodynamically. This is not a wild proposition in Italy, as most family farmers do not want to use herbicides or pesticides since they live and work at the property, not to mention they drink a lot of their own wine. They want their land to be vibrant and healthy and their wine to be clean.
We call it "real wine" or clean wine or natural wine and there is no true definition but most agree this type of wine is made without laboratory yeast and without the litany of additives that find their way into the majority of wine.
Our producers like to keep the ingredients simple as it has been done for generations with grapes, yeast and many times restrained doses of sulfur. No matter how we label or categorize our producer's wines the most important factor is it must be really good wine that expresses a time and place. Our producers have put their heart and soul into their wines and there is nothing they like more than to share that wine with others!
